Good Programmers make bad managers?
by Code Monkey
If you get mad or fustrated at code as a programmer, you can walk away or turn off the computer, doesn’t work well for people. When I was in a tech lead position, I felt out of my element, like I was hearding cats. I believe many programmers never envision managing people, but after working in the industry 10-15 years, you find yourself pushed into that role often. The skills that make a good programmer I believe make you judgemental and binary.
“The parts of my personality that make me a good programmer tend to make me a mediocre leader/manager, which I expect is probably true for most software developers.”
