I believe the solution to “precise” estimates is to follow a more pure agile methodology but it requires trust. Most developers can estimate something over two weeks much easier then six months.  Unfortunately, I see managers insist on a waterfall “hybrid” process because they like saying they are “Agile”, but they want a gantt chart projecting a year’s features in advance to appease uneasy clients and executives.\ \ Telling a manager something will takes months to develop, which he normally has no understanding over or technical basis to question is seen as very risky because it involves trust.  Most people hate uncertainty, and will look for ways to protect themselves, rational or otherwise at the expense of the “greater good” of the project.\ \ #softwaredevelopment{.ot-hashtag .bidi_isolate}\ #estimate{.ot-hashtag .bidi_isolate}\ #agile{.ot-hashtag .bidi_isolate}\ #waterfall{.ot-hashtag .bidi_isolate}
