Seems many company wants a quick painless silver bullet process/product combination to brand themselves as agile but without putting in the the hard work.\ \ * Individuals and Interactions over Processes and Tools\ * Working Software over Comprehensive Documentation\ * Customer Collaboration over Contract Negotiation, and\ * Responding to Change over Following a Plan\ \ “The word “agile” has been subverted to the point where it is effectively meaningless, and what passes for an agile community seems to be largely an arena for consultants and vendors to hawk services and products.”\ \ The concept of empowered self organizing developers who work closely with the end users must be very threatening for corporations that have a large management culture.   believe we will continue to see “enhanced” agile methodologies that try to marry process heavy relics like RUP and CMMI with some of the artifacts of Agile like sprints and backlogs to give the monster(s) an air of legilimency, “Hey we are agile, look we have sprints!”.

Dave is overstating it a little, but there’s a lot of truth there. I didn’t want to believe it at first, while the principles live on, “agile” methods that aren’t agile are taking hold.
