My understanding of this article related source study is disabling your cell phones GPS signal would not be enough to protect your privacy.  Every cell tower your phone connects to leaves a record that can be used in this new “fingerprint” concept.   \ \ We live in an era where the concept of “assumed” privacy expectations for a whole generation are based on constantly sharing intimate details of their lives through pervasive social media, so I doubt having a cell phone being able to ID you, will phase many.
